Energy Law
The energy laws cover the entire value chain from energy production, via the distribution of energy in our electricity grid through to the moment you as an end customer can put the socket in the wall and extract the energy you need. The green shift and electrification place greater demand on increased energy extraction over a short period of time. The development means that new requirements are set for efficiency throughout the value chain.
The area of energy law intervenes in several legal disciplines within public and private law. Large parts of the energy industry are monopoly activities, and the legislature has therefore regulated this area in detail. There is a long tradition in Norway for the public regulation of natural resources that are utilized for energy production, regulation of the actual power production and the development of power grids. The actual consumption of energy is also regulated in detail.
Energy law also includes private law issues, such as the acquisition of rights and land for ownership or use for power production and line networks, etc.
We mainly assist the energy companies, and have experience with the following:
- Application for a license and issues related to license terms
- Issues related to area concessions, delivery obligations, construction grants

- Regulation of sanctions related to breaches of contract by customers
- Company and tax law issues in the energy industry
- Contract law issues related to the development of the energy network
